Our adult choir, the New Dimensions Choral Society (NDCS), is greatly honored to participate by invitation in the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra’s (SSO) upcoming “A Gershwin Celebration” concert featuring performances of “Rhapsody in Blue” by famed pianist and host Richard Glazier backed up by the SSO, and a concert of musical selections from the popular folk opera Porgy & Bess performed by famed soprano Jonita Lattimore, tenor Dwayne Clark, and bass-baritone Alvy Powell (arguably the most famous actor/singer to portray “Porgy” on-stage), backed up by the SSO and a combined chorus consisting of the Grambling State University Concert Choir and us under the direction of GSU’s Natorshau Davis. This concert is #2 of the ’19–’20 Season of Willis-Knighton’s Masterworks series.
Tickets range from $15 for General Admission seating to $69 for Gold seating, with three intermediate levels and $25 for wheelchair-accessible seating. If you want Brass through Gold-level seating, and you’re a personal friend or family member of any of our NDCS members or any GSU Concert Choir member, a tip: contact that family or friend of yours before you purchase your tickets. That’s all we can say here about that. Space is limited, so don’t delay!
Join us Saturday evening, October 26, at First Baptist Church—Shreveport on Ockley near Creswell. Come early: there’ll be a free pre-concert discussion starting at 6:40.
What a wonderful way to open our 50th Anniversary Season! Thank you for inviting us, Shreveport Symphony Orchestra!
