As we all know, the past couple of years have been difficult, especially for singing organizations, due to the pandemic. We were blessed to celebrate our Golden 50ᵗʰ Anniversary Season with our 30ᵗʰ Annual Bobby Wiggins Celebration of Spirituals in late February, 2020, just weeks before the pandemic reached our area and shut everything down.
We’ve missed being together all this time, but since group singing was a particularly effective way to spread this disease, we chose not to risk it. So, we suspended our rehearsals and wound up skipping our 51ˢᵗ and 52ⁿᵈ seasons.
But now, with vaccines widely available and the danger to ourselves and others much lessened from what it had been, we’re back! We’ll hold the first rehearsal of our 53ʳᵈ season starting at 7 ㏘ on Monday, August 15, at our usual rehearsal location at the headquarters of our parent organization, the New Arts Cultural Society, at 4714 Monkhouse Drive in Shreveport, LA! Subsequent rehearsals will be every Monday until around Christmas (except for Labor Day), then picking up again after the New Year begins. See our Upcoming Events or NDCS Calendar for more details.
We plan on holding our regular concerts this season including for Christmas and Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, culminating in our own Black History Month celebration that is our annual Bobby Wiggins Celebration of Spirituals, while hopefully also performing at Spirituals festivals of other organizations in nearby cities including Bastrop, Baton Rouge, and Dallas.
We invite anyone who loves to sing to be a part of the fun and fellowship we enjoy! Come to a rehearsal or three and see just how enjoyable and inspiring it is! We ask that anyone who comes be fully vaccinated and boosted.
